The main protagonist of Code Violet is a Violet Sinclair - a woman stolen from the past and taken to the future. She has us to face dinosaurs and various creatures while exploring the futuristic research complex.
Code Violet is an action game with elements of a survival horror. It was created by TeamKill Media - a development team, which has in its portfolio such projects as Kings of Lorn: The Fall of Ebris, Quantum Error and Son and Bone.
Code Violet takes us to the 25th century. As a result of a powerful cataclysm, Earth became uninhabitable, and those who survived fled to the planet Trappist 1-E to make it their new home.
The plan of rebuilding civilization was significantly complicated by the fact that a side effect of the global catastrophe was rendering people infertile. However, in the Aion colony, a grim solution to this problem was found in the form of technology enabling time travel. It was used to kidnap healthy women from the past and bring them to the future.
One of the victims of this procedure is Violet Sinclair. Trying to regain her freedom and save her loved ones, the heroine discovers that the complex she ended up in has been taken over by terrifying, aggressive creatures. Apart from fighting a fierce battle for survival, along the way our protagonist learns the secrets of the colony and the enigmatic Director who leads it.
In Code Violet we watch the action from a third-person perspective (TPP). The game leads us through the interiors of the research complex and the territories of the Aion colony on the planet Trappist 1-E. While exploring these locations, we carry out missions set before us and face opponents, primarily using futuristic firearms. We regularly have to act quietly in the game, hiding and sneaking behind the backs of enemies.
Code Violet runs on the Unreal Engine.
The developers of the Dino Crisis-inspired Code Violet shared why the game will not launch on PC. Turns out it is to avoid players creating inappropriate mods.

Teamkill Media’s 2nd game in 3 years made by 4 people, leaves much to be desired. It’s a near full priced game on a closed platform like the PlayStation 5. Code Violet is a game that boasts player urgency, discovery, and the appreciation of a strong and beautiful female lead. However, their game didn’t reflect their talk. My overall experience was not the greatest, most of the time I was bewildered by what I played. It’s not a game I can recommend at release, especially not for the asking price. It’s a campy, playable game. A game one can enjoy in a several sitting, when you have disposable time and money to spend. And perhaps a much lower price point.

Code Violet is a mess. Crummy combat, tedious exploration, technical problems. The sexy costumes and horny camerawork seem at odds with both Violet as a character and the tone of the writing. Even at six hours long it's tough to recommend, because in six hours you could just watch Jurassic Park three times. And if you did that, you'd never once feel the need to justify what's currently on your screen.

Code Violet is a game that is made up of contradictions. There's no doubt that the people who made it love classic survival horror movies, and the mood, sound design, and main loop sometimes work together to make really scary moments. It can be very immersive to explore the building when you're low on bullets, hear dinosaurs nearby, and slowly learn about the story's darker themes.
