Release Date: April 30, 2026
A third-person action game with elements of a roguelike. Saros was created by Housemarque studio and its foundations are very similar to the previous game made by this studio - Returnal. An important feature is that we may keep our permanent upgrades after we die, making us stronger and more ready for future playthroughs.
Saros is an action game with clearly defined elements of a roguelike. The game was developed by Housemarque studio, and it was built on the foundations laid by the team's previous work, the genre-related game titled Returnal (although this is not a sequel and represents a completely new IP).
Saros takes us to a science fiction universe, specifically - to the planet Carcosa struggling with the eclipses of its star. During the game we play as Arjuna Devraja, who investigates the mystery of the missing human colony, trying to find a way to a person important to him. Along the way, the protagonist must face sinister adversaries.
The gameplay in Saros reminds of the game Returnal. We watch the action from a third-person perspective (TPP), and as we visit locations, we primarily focus on eliminating enemies.
Compared to Housemarque's previous work, this game is distinguished by the presence of permanent equipment upgrades (weapons and suits). Thanks to this, even though after death we need to start from the beginning in a changed world, we become stronger with each subsequent attempt.

WayTooManyGames: 9.5 / 10 by Leonardo Faria
Instead of being just like every other safe and overbudgeted action adventure by the company, this is a gameplay-first experience, just like how Returnal had done five years prior. It shows, once again, that Housemarque might actually be Sony’s most important internal development team, masterfully mixing arcade-like controls and an endlessly replayable gameplay loop with higher quality visuals and cinematic storytelling.
VGC: 5 / 5 by Jordan Middler
Saros is a bold, confident realisation of 30 years of Housemarque. It builds on the mystery and exceptional gameplay of Returnal with an excellent lead performance, and changes to the formula mean even more players will come to realise that Housemarque is PlayStation's secret weapon.
Tom's Guide: 4.5 / 5
Saros is a relentless, exciting and demanding rogue-lite shooter that combines cinematic spectacle with tight bullet-hell combat. It's a marvellous follow-up to Returnal, that retains the best bits of its predecessor while sanding down its (minor) rough edges. It pulls very few punches, but will have you saying "one more run" on a loop.
