Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia is a remake of the 1992 Fire Emblem Gaiden, the second game in the famous jRPG series and was never before translated into English. Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia takes place in a fantasy world divided between two opposing factions. The game focuses on two childhood friends who, as adults, are fighting for the opposing sides. Their stories intertwine, allowing us to see what happens on both sides of the conflict. Like in every game from the series, gameplay focuses on turn-based battles where we control a small group of heroes. There are many of them available for recruitment, but only a handful can be used on the battlefield. We can level up our characters, explore the world, visit towns, and complete side quests between the battles. Unlike its precursor, Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia features 3D visuals and fully voiced dialogues.

During our adventures we control a four-person unit of soldiers which is a part of the elite S.T.E.A.M formation. Our job is to fend off the invaders. Combat is turn-based. In battle, we have to wisely manage our resources and rely on tactical actions, like flanking or ambushing our enemies. As we play, our soldiers get more powerful equipment, making them more effective in combat. We observe the action from a third-person perspective, just like in many action games. The story is set in dualistic world made of two bodies of gods who fought each other and died in the battle. While one is inhabited by humans, the other is dominated by hostile mechanical beings. The story focuses on a young orphan called Shulk, who, along with his team, is trying to prepare humanity for the incoming enemy. The hand-held port does not bring any changes to the gameplay mechanics of the game. As the developers aspired to deliver the essence of the original game intact, the port is incompatible with other Nintendo hand-helds and works exclusively on New 3DS.

The whole game comes down to solving criminal mysteries, during which we are mentored by the eponymous Pikachu – one of the main protagonists of the Pokémon series. In terms of game mechanics we received a classic detective game, which requires us to thoroughly examine the locations we visit in search of clues and evidences. We also take part in numerous conversations with witnesses and suspects alike, during which Pikachu can speak human language instead of its characteristic squeaks.

Major novelties include e.g. new weapons (Splat Dualities), moves (Dodge Roll) and heroes (including refreshed versions of the old crew). Controls have been adjusted to both Joy-Con and Pro Controller (a more classic gamepad). It is important to note that in both cases the players can use gyroscope, which is useful for aiming.

Puzzle, 3D Image, Singleplayer, Nintendo Exclusive.

Another installment in a series of logic games; it was created specifically for Nintendo 3DS. The player's goal here is to paint appropriate cubes in such a way so that models hidden inside of them can be revealed. The game was based on the rules of a puzzle created by Non Ishida - a Japanese graphics designer. Although the gameplay resembles Minesweeper for PC, the environments are three-dimensional. Blocks can be rotated freely and digits that are visible on particular cubes (the blocks are made of those) inform the player about the number of neighboring cubes they should paint with a given color. If cubes get painted in the correct color, they disappear, revealing a fragment of the model hidden inside the block. Managing to color the entire block of cubes correctly results in the entire model being revealed to the player, which can represent characters created by Nintendo for example. In Picross 3D Round 2, two new colors were added, as well as more complex models hidden in particular puzzles. The game supports the Amiibo protocol, thus the player can digitalize the figurines they own.
